The short answer is, "Yes, but not for very long."
All of my music is in AAC 256 kbps format. As I play through a playlist, at some random point, the music stops, the
app steps through the remaining songs in succession (without playing them), and the phone goes comatose. I can sometimes use the "back" key to get out of this death-spiral; if I do, further attempts to playback my music results in a pop-up window that simply says, "Failed." Only a reboot clears things up, at least until the next random time at which this happens.
This happens with FW R4EA031 and R4GC010. It also happens on my W300. So the
app is clearly at fault.

Nokia N-series and the Apple iPhone come to mind...
AAC > MP3, and besides, I'm not re-sampling my entire music library for one balky device.

I use iTunes to convert my MP3's. It's not proper AAC, it comes up as M4A but I have no trouble playing them on my W810.

Snap, never had a problem playing anything on my W810i so far in the time i have used it

Thanks, but I was asking scottt, since he "never had a problem" with his W810.
However, I do think the newer FW versions are part of the problem. When I had R4CE012, I never had AAC playback problems, either. Of course, I also had a 2GB MSDP at the time (4GB now)... and that was when iTunes was still on version 6.x (7.x now)...
So it's likely the FW, maybe the card size, and possibly iTunes. Hmmm, iPods don't have these problems
