This is a major peev of mine with SEMC handsets.

Great phones - small enough for your pocket - but after about a month of use POCKET DUST begins to collect under the display window.

Only way to fix this is to take the phone apart. I've done this with a W800 but the w880 isn't something you want to take apart.

URG!!!

U must be kidding, I carry my phone in my pocket all the time the last 8 months and so far no single bit of dust over the screen, thanks to the great protective layer. I use k310 and its ok with no dust. Reminds me when I had my Nokia 3120 and damn, after a week the dust were all over the screen and I had to open the phone and clean it, the dust was so hard to clean out because of the small size and static, the protective case of the phone was really bad, it had huge gaps in the joints so the dust came in really easy, maybe that happens with other Nokia phones, well I dont want to try that out I stick now with SE.

Well i had dust under every SE phone i ever had but it was worst on Walkman phones K750 is bad too my brothers is covered inside his screen. Phone manufactuers need to start sealing screens better and realise this is a problem with phones and it can spoil their look. My Nokia 6233 i have had for 6 months and it not got a spec inside screen but most Nokias dont have the problem these days. My phone has stainless steel around the screen so that may help it.

My W800 has quite a lot of dust on the screen but my K790 doesn't have that problem since the screen's sealed really well and it's quite distant from the earpiece, which is where it comes in through.

Also consider the fact that when you drop the phone the front fascia is shifted a bit, just enough for the dust stuck in the earpiece to sneak it through to the screen.
In my experience with se phones i've found that they are generally sealed quite well and do not suffer from the dust problem till dropped.

YEP - I dropped my 880 - and that was it ... dust everywhere.

Anyone have a teardown manual??

Maybe I'll take it apart and post the pictures!!
