Does anyone know if it is possible to make a W950i ignore punctuation [periods] in a number from your contacts?
All my contacts are in the format +12.34.567.8910, but i get a number error report from the phone. can it be changed? can my carrier help?

Why do you use dots inside phone numbers? Of course you get error when you try to call in that way.

it is my preferred way of capturing phone numbers, and is not at all uncommon. some use brackets and hyphens.
my P910i was smart enough to ignore it, and just dial the numerals, which left me free to write my numbers any way i chose to. this new 950 it seems is not that smart a phone.

cohiba, why do you need to capture numbers if you write them into w950?

I don't think it's at all silly or strange to include non-numerics in a phone number. I have a P990, and it doesn't allow entry of non-numerics in Contacts' phone numbers at all. I like to include spaces in phone numbers to make them easier to read. I also sometimes include descriptive text alongside the phone number for contacts with multiple mobile numbers. I've had to purchase a separate application (DreamConnect - good but too slow and memory hungry) simply to allow me to enter such characters - maybe a similar app is available for the W950...?
