A man survived a shooting earlier this week in Coloroda, thanks in part to his phone which slowed and deflected the bullet when it struck him.

"Despite being shot in the chest Tuesday, the hospital released him, saying he was in good condition. "It hit me in the cell phone, went through the cell phone, and projected down and grazed me," said Baxter. Baxter had the phone in his left shirt pocket, over his heart.

Police say the two people involved in the shooting of were 14 and 15 years old."

Anyone have any clues as to what model of phone that is? ... Looks like a "DEAD RINGER" for a Nokia 6126!

Krusell should release some nice kevlar models, methinks! Also, Imagine the guy had a pace-maker...the irony, if he now always wore a phone to cover his heart, and the handset knocks his pacemaker out of sync!!! it's a bad world!

...agree, and I find it sort of curious that things like this get never ever discussed in esato's very own gun-thread (I just mention it here cause a few weeks ago I mentioned it there, and my "challenge" was ignored...)

I thought they say carrying mobiles close to your heart is bad for your health?

... That's what I was playing at; although the problem, as far as I know, is only interference with pacemakers...
