Ive been looking into new colour screen mobiles and have found that the nokia models have a much less colours supported. Only 4,075 (or whatever it is) and other makes such as the panasonic and Sharp models have 65,000 which is a very big difference. Why are nokia not competing with this figure?
Cheers

Cos it costs more, Nokia don't want their phones to be too expneisve otherwise no one will buy them. 4096 is plenty, its 16 bit I think.

Can't give you a proper reason for this but there are a few plausable ones:
1. Nokia have been behind in the market when it comes to new to technology maybe they don't wanna break a trend.
2. Nokia may have decided that the colour difference between the 4k and 65k is not worth it on such a small screen
3. Nokia may have weighted up the pros and cons and decided that battery performance for a phone that has 65k is not up to it - I know my SPV isn't
4. Final thought Nokia may have had this phone in the pipeline for ages - I know that it was around not too long after the t68 and they took ages to get it out in England this could explain its lack in technological specification compared to the current phones on the market
dunno? One of those might be correct

The reason why these Japanese phones are supporting 65k colour screens is because Panasonic & Sharp are amongst the world leaders in LCD technology.
Back in the 80's they invested millions into LCD R&D and now we're seeing the results.
Nokia, SonyEricsson and Siemens have no chance of offering that kind of LCD technology as cheap as the Japanese anytime soon.
I myself have the Sharp GX-10 and a T68m(i upgraded). The Sharp screen is unbeleivable and after using it for a couple of days you cannot go back to the 256 colour T68 screen ever again.

The 4,096 colors of the nokia's maybe good but the screen themselves are not much better than the 256 of SE. To be honest I could barley tell a difference. The samsunbg t100 has the best screen on the market though!

I have 7210 on my left hand T68i in my right hand and I can say there's quite a big difference. I'm also comparing the exact same image on the screen of these phones and there REALLY is a difference (looks better in my left hand phone).
