Hi.

Does any one think Ericsson will leave SE and start making there own phones again featuring todays specs, leaving just sony to make there own phones? Basicly will Sony and Ericsson seperate and start producing there own products?

I don't think so. Everything starts with money and ends with money in today's world. Separating this two companys is loosing money.

Tendency: fusion, fusion, rebranding.

f.e. (just s-f)
Sony Ericsson + Sagem + motorola = ?

Nokia + Samsung = ?

etc.

There is a clause in the original Joint Venture agreement that allows both companies to begin manufacturing their own phones again should they wish too.

However, I doubt both companies would want to fund two separate phone ranges each.

That's what I am saying - it won't be profitable to produce their own lines of phones. Can you imagine these two companies competing with themselves?

Hi all,

I totally agree with aatuif and know for a fact we are definitely not the only people that would love to see this happen either. In fact i still dream of this happening occasionally and the good old 3 blue lines reappears with just the most amazeing devices oh if only it could be true. Myself and a lot of other people would be very happy indeed.

i can never ever forget my days with R520, although it was with me for not much long, even a sight of the phone drives me nostalgic...
none of the phones i used since could erase my love for ericsson...

six months into the joint venture ericsson was rumoured to want to pull out if the profits didnt increase of course they have increased and doubt they would split now they are a good blend i think sony got the global brand and ericsson got the technology

tech advancement is not everything, it is possible that if sony ericsson never existed and the those companies produced phones by themselves, they could share the fate of siemens mobile phones dept. after all this joint venture was formed for a reason

The joint venture was cos Sony and Ericsson phones on their own were not selling so they both wanted to come together so Sony could profit from Ericssons phone expertise and Ericsson could profit from Sonys expertise in other fields. Ericsson had falling sales and so did Sony in mobile phones but Ericsson phones were still so much better than what Sony produced. Sony phones were awful i remember buying the Z5 and it had them awful polyphonic ringtones which sounded like a merry go round. Though i used to love the 3D menus Sony had on their phones. Ah bring back the days of the Ericsson T68 i loved that phone i remember waiting outside the Orange shop early morning the day it came out to get my upgrade. It was a new era. Boo hoo.
