> p990i should i upgrade FW or not?
Bookmark topic
Hi all p990i users,
I have a p990i on O2 in the Uk, firmware is as supplied last year.. Phone R7A001, CDA R3A03.
Is it possible to upgrade the FW on O2?
Is there any point? I never have problems, but wonder if there are advantages in upgrading? I mostly use the MP3 player, wlan, office functions and the usual phone/sms.
Would upgrading help in any of these area's? The on board opera drives me nuts, does this get upgraded? or am i best to just download a new version from opera?
Looking for a few straightforward answers please. I know there are firmware threads here, but they run to 1000's of posts.
cheers Oz

Hi Oz
I am from Oz too, it looks like u bought urs like me from ebay.
yes u can upgrade the firmware on o2,
when I got mine 2 weeks ago, the firmware was months old,
I went and upgraded it to the firmware latest 02 version which was 2 versions older than the generic one.
I was disappointed and thought of debranding mine to a generic one.
But I checked last week and to my surprise there was a new o2 version was available and it was a current as the latest available generic one R9F011 / R5A17.
So now I have the latest firmware as the generic one.
As for the advantage of upgrading, what do u think, definitley, better performance and less crashes as all comments u hear and read all over the internet forums.
just go and download the update soft from sony website and do it from home, make sure u back up ur phone if u need to and to follow percise instructions, cheers.
