I just got my M600i recently. I have upgraded it to the latest organizer firmware, version R6A16.
I have read many blogs and forums about configuring gmail on m600i. They are mostly from year 2006 - I am wondering is this problem solved for everybody else but me?
I have tried various settings, but I still get the same error message, when I press "Get & send": "The download failed because the account has errors in its server settings".
PS. I wouldnt like to use the forwarding workaround, other mail client, the gmail app or the gmail mobile version. These would be only the last resort.
Do you guys have any advice for me? Is it working for you?
Frustrated,

Have no idea m8, but there is another problem in my case :
I try to download the java app for my P990 and it does, then suddenly at install it says the following error : 'could not read the jar file' and the setup exits.
Anyone faced this? and any recommendations? or if anyone can send me the app on mail??

yes,get help on Gmail's Help page and search into the phone under advanced settings while u r in the account. It's not working cuz u didn't change the port ans the ssl encoding.Mine works perfect on P990i and M600i.

With the help of a member "borizz", i got it working. Thanx!
As soon as I created a separate data account especially for mail (with internet APN) it's working
Someone should add that step to the gmail config tutorials.

@floke
Gmail is just doing what it is told.. it thinks that you have not read and dealt with the Email so it sends it down when you sync etc.
Use the Web Client to clean out your mailbox.. moving stuff to Archive for example. This should get you up to date. Check what setting you have setup for POP access if that is what you are using from your phone. (check that they are being moved somewhere after download etc.)

that sux. The whole idea with gmail is that you should'nt have to bother with cleaning up your inbox.
I have an imap mail account setup and that does fetch the latest mail first. Are you sure that this isn't a setup issue?

Edit the Account just to sort out current backlog. Once done check that settings are correct and then you won't have to tidy up manually again.
Forward you Email onto the account you have Imap setup on then ?
Are you using the in-bilt Email client of your phone, or the web/java client ?

...or just instruct Gmail from preferences to start download 'from now on'.There's an option over there.
