Hi Guys

Sorry if this has been raised before but I couldnt find an answer when I searched

Basically, I attempted to update my P990 (Voda version) software earlier today via the SEUS

Did what I was told - battery in / out, hold down C, let the software do its thing.

However, when the software had finished its update, the Phone didnt restart itself. I took it off the cradle, powered it on... and all it does now is vibrate once then has a flashing screen - black, a quick flash of white, black again... over and over again.

I took it to a local phone repair and the guy claims it needs to be reflashed which would take 2 days and cost me £25

Before I did this, I wanted to ask you guys whether I'm being mugged. Is there any way I can get my phone working again???

I'd also like to get it debranded, but making it operational is my first priority

Many thanks

L

You have done yourself a favour £25 will seem cheap when you get you phone back free of the Vodafone butchery! I had my Vod unit reflashed transformed it

I suppose it can be done, but for exactly the reasons you are now asking for help I have had all my phones done by those who really know what they are doing, as you already know it's very hard to put a problem right.

I used SE-Unlock on all three phones I have had done, they do a reflash (debrand) and unlock service at a special price to Esato members.

I have never heard of debrand and reflash as seperate items, as I understand it reflashing automaticaly debrands the phone so I would double check exactly what this guy is offering, but £45 seems a little on the high side £25 was a little cheap! I think there is another guy on here who does it as well.

@ Nitro and all,

A re flash and debranding are two separate things, one is just reflashing the same firmware and if you can find a SE service centre it should be done for free.
Debranding involves changing the CDA so you no longer get flashed with Branded firmware but get flashed to a generic firmware, and yes £45 does seem expensive for this.

A lot depends on where you are located and if you can bare being without your phone for a short while. If in London there is Kingmobilephone that charge £20 for a De brand or £35 to unlock and De brand and you can check out their services at this link

There is also SEUNLOCK who have various posts on this forum and also offer the same type of services and i believe for similar prices.

have you tried SEUS again? the first time i tried to update my m600 (orange branded) it failed and just said "No Organiser Software" when I turned it on, but trying again worked and (before the touchscreen broke) it worked fine
