On non symbian SEs the fastest way to access a SIM position was to press 8# for position 8 on the SIM card. If I really wanted position 11 I could easily scroll with joystick two positions down.
If I enter 9# in the standby screen of M600 I get to position 9 but from there I cannot scroll up or down in the list.
How do I do that?

well, at least you can enter 11# or 25#. or you can browse contacts by simply entering the name.
or am i mistaken? i'm not sure i have understood the question

Well I can put it this way instead.
If I want to call a person stored on the SIM card I have to start contacts, press more -> folder -> SIM and then search for the person.
Is there a faster way to get inte the SIM phonebook?
2nd question: How can I get in the SIM phonebook and sort by position?

you have to enter contact, more and view folder-sim. and it will remain that until you change it. after that you only need to enter contacts
you can't sort it by position. more-settings- sort by. you only have that 4 options
