Dear All,

Newbie here. I have a question raised by a (probably famous) TomTom support man.
He says:

After further research into your question, I can establish that our products are compatible with Sony Ericsson W950i and not Sony Ericsson W950. [...] We thus cannot support an incompatible device.

So, is there a difference, please anybody?

Best wishes from sunny Lake District,
W.

Welcome to Esato,

There is only a W950i no W950 AFAIK and even if there was it would still support TomTom unless I am mistaken!

I don't sound too confident in all of that do I ?

No it's just a prefix which is added for the market of different countries. So you can find W950, W950i & W950c. It depends where you live! Hope this made it clear!

the main difference is that depending on the prefix, these might support different frequencies. Not always the case though.

For example, if a (America), it will support the GSM 850, where as if i (International) it will not support the GSM 850.

Yet, I do not see how this will make it different from using TomTom.
