I dropped my phone in the toilet on Friday nite about 60 hours ago. I was drunk and just gotten home. checking texts and messages and it slipped. Luckily, the "water" was clear cuz i was drinkin a lot ( or unluckily, if you consider that had i not been drunk, ... you get the rest). Anyway, I've seen some of the posts a while back about water.

I immediately grabbed it without hesitation, quickly zipped and then pulled the battery. I unfortunately didn't remember exactly the next steps to take, such as distilled water rinse while still wet. With the battery, I pulled SIM and MemSTick. That was at 4 am. I let it dry about 12 hours. It is very dry here, Reno, NV, so I figure that helped. I did not disassemble the w810 any more than that.

Everything worked fine at first, except that it would only stay on for a while, like 30-90 minutes. But all the buttons, cam, walkman, etc worked. I was concerned about pluggin it into the charger. But I tried that today, it said that it was charging, but a half hour later, it was turned off. Every time it turned off, it would turn on again and say like 13% battery or something like that.

Seems like the battery wouldn't actually take a charge. Luckily, I still have the old battery from my w800, and that's charged up to 67% now.

Is it worth it to still consider the Distilled Water Bath/Rinse? or maybe the Ultrasonic-something bath? I do not have insurance, though it sounds like it wouldn't be covered anyway. The water sticker on my w810 battery is red, so it obviously got wet anyway. Are the batteries almost guaranteed to be bad after a submerging?

i got an experience about saving a phone that fell to water 3 years ago.
however, its 3 years back. cant be compared to today's phone...

after dismantling the phone. i need to make sure everything is dry.
even your tiny 1mm sweat from your hand inside the board could make the phone malfunction again, cause i believe the phone now would be more sensitive. my suggestion : do not made it fell for the second time.

check that microphone, earphone, vibrator, all keypad working properly.
for my case, vibrator and microphone module can't be saved. so i got to replace it with the new one...

hmm, maybe you should think about dismantling the phone instead.
but be careful, do it at your own risk of course

my friends says spray or soak it in lighter fluid because it evaporates quickly thus atracting the water to the fluid and evaporates with it

Could be a battery problem also. Try the battery in another phone to see if that causes the problem. It can be damaged from the water too.

This C1100 once took a swim. I removed batery disambled, let it dry for 12hrs. Its okay even now

Remove the battery and stick it in a bag with packs of silica gel and rice...

Leave on a steady source heat i.e. a TV, on top og your computers tower unit etc.

Nothing too hot though (radiator etc.) as it may cause more damage.
