After much messing about I found out that you cannot seem to get any other email provider to work on O2 PAYG (I am on online PAYG). The only services that work are O2 Active's own email service @o2.co.uk and maybe Yahoo or 1 or 2 others (I think BT not sure).

I tried my own providers email settings and Gmail and both failed on 'Finding server'. All the settings were correct.

I had SE's online config send me the email setup for O2 and changed it from O2 GPRS to O2 WAP GPRS as it automatically sets it to O2 GPRS in the email application. I also changed my username to username@o2.co.uk instead of just username as that gives an AUTH error otherwise. Now I have a working email on O2 PAYG but only using O2 as my POP3/SMTP provider.

Anyone else managed to get other email providers working on UK O2 PAYG?

You need the O2 Mobileweb settings, which unfortunately don't work on PAYG, only contract sims.
