I am sorry to bump such an old topic, but I'm having the same problem as described above. I backed up my phone, then updated from /66 R5-something to the latest Generic World firmware, then restored my backup, but oddly a previous backup was restored. I've re-tried several times, to no avail. Has anyone found a solution to this problem yet?

My guess is that it has to do with incompatability between backups from different software versions, the moral of the story being not to bother with them at all & just use synch/file management to keep copies of your data on the pc.

Too bad a backup is the only way to preserve your sms/text messages ...

I would rename the backup I want the same as the backup that works, it may introduce a couple of bugs but worth a try if you are stuck .
