I have previously had two screens installed by a company who specialise in fitting home entertainment systems. I am now thinking of fitting a "32 in my study i.e. putting it on the wall by myself. When I used the specialist company, they sourced all the materials including the HDMI cables.

My question is, how big a difference is there in the quality of the cables? I can get an HDMI cable from Tottenham Court Road for £29.95, but then I look at the ones that the fitting company used [gold-plated connectors and bells and whistles - to the tune of 80 odd quid per cable!!!]. Have I been ripped off, or is there really a difference in quality?

I'd really like some advice on whether it's worth spending £80-90 versus the £25-35 HDMI cables.

Thanks

I didn't mention ixos, but is that a good brand that I should look out for? I'm going out to get the cables tomorrow or the next day, and just want to know what I need to get [I'm pretty clueless in this field, as I've previously just got other people to do it for me, but wan't to do it myself now]. So ixos? that's good???
