All the UK networks are currently giving free sim cards.
O2, T-Mobile - Orange and Vodafone.
You have to purchase them of the internet tho.
Do you have some one in the uk that can order you one?
All the networks offer something different. so it depends on what you want. Let us no and i will try to help you

Sorry I (arien617) I will re-word it.
The 4 Main Mobile GSM Networks Voda, Orange, T-mobile, o2 are
Tesco who is a Virtual network are also giving free sms when you purchase airtime credit.
3 will prob never give out free sims unit there network reaches 98-99% of the UK population as they dont like or allow you to sim swap ino other phones.

Hi mustu... not sure if you are considering pay as you go?
You could try this site...
https://secure.securewhich.co.uk/www_switch2/index.html
to compare...
Which? is a consumer resource magazine in the UK.... supposed to be highly regarded...and apparently impartial...
