Alright, with the lack of new phones for me to play with i had developed the urge to do another mod... i did my k790a poopoo brown from a k800i a while back and decided to try to convert the k810 to a k790a housing to create a k810a...

se decided to not make this device quad band so us north americans were giving the shaft once again...

i wasn't sure if this was going to work... conceptually it should... but when i cracked open both housings there were quite a few signifigant changes...mostly triming of the plastic frame inside of the phone... the lcd plastic is thinner, the internal casing has little pieces chopped off here and there to help slim it down.... i had to strip the phone to it's bare bones to get the housing swap to work... was going to take pics but got too worked up in the process...anyway... covered up the camera hole with some plastic put it all together and below are some pics... everything works as it should enjoy....next up... time to find an ivory k810i...

guys.. the only way you'll be able to do this is if you buy a k810 and swap the housing..

examples of the changes....

the lcd screen has a plastic frame around it ... it's a lot thinner on the k810i
the pcb boards are different so you'll need a new board
for those of you that have opened the phone before... after removing the external housing... the phone itself is cased in a black "cage" that cage has little trimmings here and there even the strap hinge is different on the phones... k790a the strap hinge is attached to the cage... on the k810 the strap hinge is on the housing...

backlight colors are based on the color of the keypad... it has nothing to do with the backlight leds

as for selling... this sucker wasn't cheap... investment is k790a + k810i -k810i in k790a housing... so this little mod probably cost me $200 bucks providing i can resell the k810 in the k790 housing.. if not you're looking at a $700 dollar phone lol

lol.. no 850 on the k810i.... makes the phone unusable for a lot of people in north america...

people have been modding changing housings since nokia express-on... what's so pointless about it? i hate the camera hump on the k790 and the k810 addresses that issue...
