Hello.
I just got a P990 recently(had a P900 for a couple of years).
I have a weird problem. The phone time is correct but the time on the inbound SMS is 4 hours behind. So a SMS that is received at say 1:00 pm shows 9:00 am on the SMS message list on the phone. Does that make sense? The "time” of a call on the inbound call list is correct.
Just thought I would ask here and see if anyone has seen this before.
I am thinking it must be some weird network thing. BUT if I switch back to my p900 and have someone send me an SMS the time is correct. I am running the latest firmware revision.
Any thoughts?

It seems a lot of users have this problem? But I've never seen a fix for it... people always say it's a problem with the network operator, if I recall correctly. But I could have sworn that my last phone was marking each SMS with the correct time.
Myself personally, I'm on Rogers, in Canada, and my SMS's always have time stamps five hours behind. Except once, however, when I received one message from my network, which surprisingly was stamped correctly. But everything else is wrong.

Most phones have an option whereby you can set the clock to change the time based on the time zone-which evdr option is currently set (enabled or disabled) change it to the other option and reboot. Then test the sms time stamp! This worked on my p800 manx yrs ago wen i had samd prob-hope it works 4u to :o)

lovewalrus, that may have done the trick! I set my phone's current time zone and home time zone to Greenwich Mean time and then reboot. I then set it back to my home time zone and reboot once more. I received a few SMS's last night and the time stamps appear to be correct!
In fact, what I noticed was that my SMS's were always being stamped 5 hours late. This probably corresponds with the fact that my time zone is 5 hours behind Greenwich Mean time.
Thanks for the tip, hopefully it stays fixed!

Grr, I flashed my P990i with SEUS, and I can't get the SMS time stamps to work again. The SMS time stamps appear to be reported in my correct timezone as if I were currently in the GMT timezone. All the while I am actually in Eastern Canadian time. Hence the time is wrong.
I tried doing what I did last time to fix it (my previous post), but unfortunately, it's not fixing it anymore.
If I change my time zone to GMT, then the times display "correctly," but then of course, the time is wrong everywhere else on the phone...
Does anyone have any other thoughts about correcting this?
