Just how important is it to press the little green arrow in my taskbar to remove my phone? If I'm in a rush I'll just pull the lead out, but I do make sure there is no transfer in progress. Can it damage my PC or phone?

most of the time you can make sure that there is no file operation in progres, but not always. somtimes some applications do not close opened handles and it doesn't allow to remove safely unless you close that app.

Thats good to know I'm not the only one, I have 2 opperations for my phone. One for the phnoe memory and one for the memory card. I didn't used to have this with my K750i, I just had the one thing to stop so it wasn't too much bother.
Thanx for ur replies, but if anyone has had a problem with it, please post!
regards,

it can damage the phone severely... usb conn is live as long as it is connected... so better be cautious than repent afterwards...
a friend of mine screwed his pen drive for good this way...

I have never used that button with my W800 and I connect/disconnect the phone with the USB cable for a year and a month and never had any trouble.

I've never clicked it when disconnecting my P990 and never had any problems either.
It dates back to the Windows 2000 days when USB device handling was more primitive. Just don't disconnect the device when something's going on, as others here have said
