well, as usual for these types of posts you don't say what you need in a phone which might help us help you

so looking at basics, they use the same operating system so no decision needed there...

do you need/want wifi? YES-> P990
do you need/want walkman features? YES-> W950
do you need/want a small phone? YES-> W950
do you prefer a flip keyboard YES->P990
do you want to be able to swap memory or is 4gb enough? SWAP->P990, 4gb->W950
do you need a camera? YES->P990

etc etc.

there are plenty of specs out there so its just a matter of you going through and making a list and deciding what you can't live without and what you can compromise on

or... give us more detail about what you need...

thanks for the reply,

i can live without wifi and walkman just interested in a nice smartphone as they both have pretty much the same OS i was wondering if it was better getting one over the other?

hows the battery life on both? i use my phone to text and make calls quite alot in a day.

would install applications such as tomtom

im not fussed at all about camera either.

i can live without camera/wifi/walkman

which one would you recommend in that way?

thanks

in that case I'd get the M600 as it has a much better keyboard for typing... indeed I did but if M600 is not available then it sounds like you have talked yourself into a W950

Neither. P1 or W960. 80MB free RAM, enough said.

is it generally a better phone than the P990i? as there was a big hype before the p990i came out but suddenly didnt hear anything at all about it?

how is the useability of the w950i? keypad easy to use or a pain?

how good is the battery life?

W950 keyboard is horrible IMHO

can't compare battery life sorry as I don't try to use mine for days on end until the battery is exhausted, I charge every night when I get home, and it depends on usage. As a moderate user my W950 and M600 end the day with around 50-60% battery left. I didn't keep the P990 long enough to check this

get an unbranded M600, you won't be dissapointed, the keyboard takes an hour or two to get used to but after that the typing experience is brilliant
