I have about 23MB of applications stored in external memory. I'm finding that sometimes opening the Applications folder can take a long time (maybe 30-60 seconds). Generally once it's been opened once it'll respond much faster the next time it's opened.

Does anybody know why this should be? And is there a fix?

Thanks

As you said you have a lot of applications installed. As I use to keep about 50 games in average in my W800 but I keep them in the external memory (memory stick) so the folder access is not that big problem. It takes about 5 seconds to list all 50 games. Try copying your applications/games to the memory stick and see if it is faster...

Thanks, I suspect it will be faster but was hoping to avoid filling up my internal memory. I should have added that whilst my apps occupy 23MB there are only 13 of them. It's almost as if when you open the folder the phone is copying the entire contents into internal memory before displaying the app names.

Is it possible to create additional Applications folders, or subfolders in the existing Applications folder?

Thanks

You cannot create subfolders in (or for) the application and games. That option is available only with Smartphones.

I think what you should do is as said before - keep most of your games, applications on your external memory. I have a w800 and a w810 i load games just like with without checking but have never experienced any slowness in accessing games or application folder. I've got hundreds of games and application. What i do is save all in my others folder and install any that i wonna play and uninstall those that I've already played.

Yeah s40 nokias can do it, but they are almost all smartphones... most of the phones lack operating system to do that, but IMO the java engine is THE BEST .

Thanks, I guess I could just install/uninstall them as required, but it's a bit of a pain to do that and I can think of no logical reason why it should be necessary to do so.

@Stompa - just move them to extended memory.
