The recently announced GPS-unit HGE-100 got me wondering two things.
First: What software will be supplied with this unit?
Second: My experience with the regular

headset aren't all that great. When using them intensively (daily basis) the line coming from the base connector seems to break resulting in mono or no sound. Considering the price of the HGE-100 would it be wise to invest in this piece of hardware? Or has

changed the connector so this will not happen?
Can anybody clarify these issues? Thanks.

1. The K530 is a phone which has GPS enabler in it so you can use the new announced GPS headset with the phone. Actually the point of putting the GPS chip in a headset in my opinion is to make it available to older

models through some software like java application and etc... So except the K530 (which has GPS application built in it's firmware) all other models will need to use the GPS headset through new software which could be installed through firmware update or java application. IMO releasing a firmware update for all models that support the new GPS headset would be a very hard work so

probably will give us some java application so we can use the GPS enabler with our other phone models. In my opinion, putting the GPS enabler is way more practical thing than Nokia or other manufacturers do to put the GPS chip inside the phone. With this one (and probably some application) we would be able to have GPS on almost all fastport java enabled

phones.
2. About your second opinion/question about the fastport and it's life... I think that Sony Ericsson's fastport is good and lasts long also. You just have to be a little more careful not to break the contacts or damage them because they are wide open to dust and dirt. So the fastport connector just needs to be given a little cleaning from time to time. My W800's fast port is still EXCELLENT after a year and month of use.

Thanks for your response. For my second question, I wasn't referring to the fast port itself, that is no problem indeed. I was referring to the connector of the headset. My experiences with it are not so positive the point where the line comes out tends to break(internally). I have my phone in my pocket most of the time so that could be the problem.

Well I'm heavy user of the phone. Actually I had never had problems with the fastport, but after all 3.5mm jack or some port connector like that lasts way more longer than the fastport one, plus it is harder to break.

@whatsucka - just tell me man, do the walkman control buttons from the headset work good on your W800? Because I have read that only the never walkman phones can be controlled with remote control headset and the W800 or K750 is not supported by this type of headphones...

For the 3.5mm connector being loose...this is commonly find on all 3.5mm connector for headset....especially when you don't pack the headset nicely
when you are not using them.....letting the wire to get tight up and throw into your back pack etc is one of the reason for such issue....another problem also the frequency of you removing the connector from the jack.
Well at least this is my opinion because i am always lazy to pack my head phone nicely since the days I start using a walkman...and this is always the end result.

Can someone tell me if GPS-data will be logged when pictures are taken.
I mean will the coordinates be entered into the metadata of the photos.
Thanks in advance
