> Help needed: k800i Screen replacement
Bookmark topic
Hi everyone
I recently broke my k800i screen and bought a new one off ebay.
Took the phone apart and replaced the screen, turned on the phone and the screen just remained white.
I contacted the seller and they said it was something to do with the software so I used the offical sony erricson software update program.
Turned the phone on and the logo appeared, then the screen just started flashing white. I cant even turn the phone off to flash it again.
I have seen by searching the site that there is a wotan update to fix the "white screen of death".
But i cannot flash my phone now because i cant turn the phone off!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks
Keith

Sorry to bump but I didn't want to start a new topic for somethign similar.
The screen on my K800i has broken (I think) - it's full of random colours and lines and theres a spot in the middle that would suggest that it's been pushed there which has caused it to break. Everything else seems to work fine. I'm pretty sure there won't be, but is there any way to fix this without replacing the screen? I'm pretty skint at the moment and somewhat delusional, I don't want to shell out on a new screen if I don't need to.
Cheers

I'm almost certain you'd need to buy a new screen which good quality ones can be found on
www.cnn.cn although you could try a reflash but don't think this is software related.
ah actually just had a thought, i remember when i had a nokia 3210 and it's screen had funny purplish colours emerging(wasnt colour) and it turned out the housing i had on was pressing on the screen too much, although it wasnt as bad as yours sounds but you could at least try removing the housing to see?

I don't have the torx screwdriver to do it
Im from the UK, but I can get an OEM screen for £25 ($50) i've just found. Cheaper ones on ebay but they don't look like originals so I assume theyll be crap
I'll try reflashing but yeah as you said, its probably not software related cos I can call people with it still.
I think this calls for a hardcase...
Thanks for your help

Nah it was a UK based store, they do sell the right screwdrivers though.
It's actually cheaper to buy from the UK than it is to import
First time for everything...
