If your phone is reasonably stable with the features that you commonly use then "Don't update". The forum is littered with stories that go wrong getting an updated firmware the benefilts of which you probably will not notice until they are pointed out to you.
Exceptions may be:-
Introduction of significant new features that you would use (like on T68i MMS upgrade).
If you want to get rid of your operator branding (3?).
Your phone is always crashing.
Maybe you are selling

I updated my phone firmwares through SEUS and WotanServer each time a new one is released. NO PROBLEM at all. Why should worry? What you need is enough knowledge to do so. I read, read and read a lot here in Esato and flashing firmware is never a nightmare.

Perhaps more by luck than judgement I've not had too many problems but some heart stopping moments. At the end of it I have not seen much differnence between the releases except on my old T68.
The point was unless you've got obvious bugs is it worth the risk?

it depends...
if the update is critical, fixes some major bugs, then i don't see any point in NOT updating...
but if one is not fully sure how to do it and chances of screwing up the phone are gr8, then DON'T update...

but upgrading isnt about fixin alone.... thats why it was called upgrading.
you develop certain features which in turn will be helpful for your daily use.
isnt that what technology is all about?!
and i also sympathize to all those who dared and yet fumbled in the middle and ended up regretful.
but all these techies also issue disclaimers... "DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK"
it was all laid out step by step as layman as possible.
I broked my K750 when it was new, while trying to update via SEUS. imagine that?! a very reliable source... but take note that even SE themselves issue disclaimers, that if something goes wrong, dont go blaming them, for its your decision that you are updating your gadget.
so what i did was research research and more research... till i found esato, ask a couple of good samaritans, and viola! got my answers in no tym, till then ive learned the lesson of taking risks... learn everything you need in upgrading, if you really WANT IT BADLY! thats the fun of it.
and finally... if you dont know what your doing! DONT DO IT!
