Had this problem earlier, when adding/editing a phone number in "Contacts" (Outlook 2003), Outlook would hang when the number was to be "confirmed" (formatted for the locality) or you were to save a "contact" with the new changes.

Have since started from scratch with a new install of Win XP MCE, and re-installed ALL patches, updates, applications (except PC Suite). Everything is working fine/dandy! Just as it should and has for the past two+ years.

Then, after a few weeks of everything OK, decided to install the SEMC PC-Suite (version 1.30.55 for SEMC w810i) in order to be able to synch up my mobile contacts (currently 284 contacts, 540 phone numbers). Installation went fine, PC suite works fine, synching works fine. Phone is nicely updated.

BUT, now (again) when trying to add/edit a phone number in Outlook, Outlook hangs. There's no way around it else than forcing it "down".

This is EXTREMELY annoying since it sort of renders PC Suite useless (Outlook have higher priority).

So, question is: Anyone else facing the same issues? Have done searches on many forums but have not sumbled over anything, or the search, even narrowed down, renders too many results.
I am in dire need for a fix, or I'll just have to rig up another PC an run the "synch" application on that one. Seems like a stupid overkill though...

I have otherwise a plethora of SEMC phones, from the earliest Ericsson TDMA phones, via the T39s, T68s, the "P" series etc. find out that I actually like the w810i the best. Nice size, excellent camera, great radio and mp3 player

Try dowloading the 2.10 version.

Go to sonyericsson.com/support

Choose a DIFFERENT (newer) model e.g. K810i and go to software downloads and select PC suite.

I have a w810 with 472 contacts (576 numbers), I use XP SP2 +Outlook 2003, and regularly sync on Bluetooth.

Works fine.

OK, thanks for the tip! Will try that.

The funny thing is that SEMC sort of tells me that 1.30.55 is the "correct" SW for the 810i. Annoying to say the least, but really nothing to loose!

Will report back when done.

Ooops, correction. On the Swedish site 2.10 is the "correct" version, on the US site, 1.30.55 is the "correct". Should have looked around bit more. hopefully, this will resolve the "hanging" of Outlook!

OK, I installed the new version (2.10) of PC suite. Actually, the upgrade process first uninstalled the old version and Outlook worked FINE after the old version (1.30.55) of PC Suite was uninstalled/removed.

BUT installed the new version (2.10) and SAME problem again. Outlook hangs when trying to add/edit a phone number - this regardless of how the number is "formatted" with a contact.

There is some type of SW conflict between the two programs and this now drives me NUTS!!!! Why does this happen? Does anyone else have the same issues?

SEMC does not seem to be able to answer/respond to this.

Lost....

BTW, the synching works fine, never been an issue with PC Suite, but I have over a 2,000 contacts and do not want all of them in my phone, so I cannot rely on only phone in order to edit numbers. Need to be able to do that from inside Outlook!

Guess only way out is now to install PC Suite on an old laptop and do the synch that way...

NO reason that it SHOULD work, but now everything's A-OK. Puh!

I did disable SEMC's "ApplicationLauncher.exe" via StartUp in "msconfig", so that does not load unnecessarily. Outlook 2003 works fine, even when having "applicationlauncher.exe" is running when PC Suite is running (sort of have no choice here, do I...).

So, this is somewhat of a mystery, but now all is well. Last recourse would probably have been to install PC Suite w/o having McAfee's security suite running. Not sure it would have mattered, but McAfee seem to be a bit too intrusive.

If I have further issues, I will post/update here.
