I would go for the Canon if it was me. Once had a Sony CyberShot camera and I just didn't like it, Although if I had a choice other than the two you mentioned, I would go for a Panasonic Lumix any day.

I've never tried a Canon. I used a Panasonic Lumix once, it was nice and fast, although the shots (low light) came out worse than in most cybershots I've used. My dad uses many cameras for field work, that's why he lends me some

Canon is definitely better IMO, but the best are Fujis.

Great in low light - usable to ISO 1600, and for postcard size ISO 3200.

Nah. Have you seen their recent batch? Reviewers have been complaining about the convoluted menu, which looks flashy, but is too complicated and long-winded.

From dpreview.com:

The system looks great but is overly complex, often counter intuitive, has inconsistent navigation and takes forever to master. Having a two-level menu system with several ways to access the same settings just means it takes longer to learn and as I used the H9 I kept wondering if the designers had forgotten that its primary - only - function is to take pictures and movies.
