> SE Built in Email Client : Surfing or Download?
Bookmark topic
Hi All,
I am using an SE S700i to access my pop3/imap inbox and everything is running smooth. This is using the built in Email client under Messages > Email.
My question is a little different: Now the plan I am on (by my service provider) mentions unlimited free browsing, but download charges as applicable (some per 10kb charge).
I wanted to find out if, while performing a send / receive emails, it would fall under the 'surfing' bucket or the 'downloading' bucket (in case of the latter I would be charged, so will put in a higher Send/Receive interval).
The service provider is unable to give me an answer
and apparently I have to wait for my bill to check how much I am being charged for downloads. If I am being charged, then the service 'downloads' and doesn't 'surf'.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Maximus.

As for as what we know- the browsing is nothing but the downloading. As when you hit a link, it download the content and shows on a page.
Btw what is your mobile operator.

I have the same problem with Telenor in Sweden. They say that with their new APN all you are supposed to pay is 9sek per day max. My push email also uses that APN as does my surfing account.
What they dont say is that is is only surfing that gets the 9sek max!!! I have to pay 15sek per MB otherwise

Yup ditto. My operator's Airtel, and I'm on a surf only plan. And yes you're right about differentiating between surfing and clicking a link to download content (that latter is supposedly charged Rs.X per KB, not sure of the value)
I talked to customer support again to ask if I'll be charged for the email client download emails, but nothing conclusive.
I'll wait for my first bill and let you know what happens
Thanks for the replies folks.

Use it cautiously till you get your bill, or you could be paying a hefty amt...

Pretty pretty certain it's "download"! imagine an attachment of a 2mb video clip!!! they are not gonna call downloading that "browsing", are they?
But wether attachment or not: download!
