I've always loved my SE phones. But lately they have left a sour taste in my mouth. The final straw was my P990i. Buggy from the get go (which drove me mad) and no more future FW upgrades?! That's a expensive paper weight to have.
I've sold my 990i and I'm thinking about going Nokia. I've taken a look at what's out in the SE world but nothing really jumps out at me. The K810 is just like the K800i I had bought last summer but with a little different design. What else is there? the S500i? Nah...Not for me...
I donno...I will come back once the new lines drop, and I hear positive reviews on them...

@EMAGDNIM : c'mon, the future's not so dull that you have to switch to Nokia !! Look, within a few months, you'll have a few new gorgeous phones available : K850, W910, W960, T650, P1... For the ones using UIQ, i'm confident that they'll be bug-free, the software has been constantly improved since P990 and the hardware will be much better as well (4 times more RAM for more UI speed).
I remember at some point i considered the Nokia N95, but the idea vanished after the first reviews came out and criticized battery life, cam quality, etc. Nokia nor any other brand are immune to mistakes and you'll surely find your lot of worries with them too.
Anyway, choice is yours, but remember switching brands can be a confusing, having to get used to a totally different UI philosophy and all...

The easeness and efficiency of UI is what i first missed. then the goodness or should i say the betterness of the camera, the loooong battery life etc. SE has a very bright future. with the tech know how of Sony in imaging, music, aming, computing etc plus the expertise of Ericsson in telecoms, what can you expect? Trail blazing and revolutionary products! just like what k750/w800 had done 2 years ago (which anyway prompted the connecting people company to launch the ? series)

i understand your mood. i am in the exact same situation. i had a K750i which was (and is) the world for me. then i've been waiting to get the p990i and bought it a bit more than a month ago. was incredibly disappointed with it - totally. now the new phones have been announced, the only one that appeals to me is the k850i, but not for the camera as i just bought a digital cam that will do it's job anyway better. just the size of the phone and the need of a new phone makes me think of k850i, but when i see the menu style, it reminds me of my old k750i, so no innovation there.
i am in the same situation to change and see what else is going on. i've used samsung, motorola, nokia and panasonic. all very good for me, for what they were supposed to do. but now is the time to go for...WM6 (like new HTC devices - look at the HTC Omni...), NEONODE or NOKIA. SE just lost one customer, not a lot, but i am sure i am not the only one...disappointment stays and won't make me come back soon

Well as some one that jumped ship nearly a year ago after I bought the disaster that the M600 was on launch and before that having used nearly exclusively Ericsson and then SE devices. I really can see no way of coming back all these new devices are just the same old tech dressed up new and double the Ram is no guarantee of anything and if you think it is you are likely to be in for a big surprise and not the good kind either.
Ericsson and SE used to lead the way now they are miles behind i mean come on Data centric devices that still use 3yr old chips and no HSDPA near the end of 2007 is a total farce. Add to that the amount of time it has taken to release new firmware for the UIQ3 devices that had no right to even be released in the state they were in originally and SE's recent actions and there is no way i would trust SE anymore. Even if they are now having a change of position due to the massive protests it should not of had come to this the fact they even thought they could behave this way and treat their customers with such a lack of respect is enough to guarantee i never return to SE. Even if they do get their act together and release devices with up to date spec's SE are no longer special they are just marketing brand names to get your money.

will make better devices once again. i've had only java based phones and all the other java based phones have not fulfilled me as my k750 has. i want good features, not disguises.

doggman i agree with your point totally, for example K810i is just a repackaged k800i...and then theres the fact SE is going backwards, I feelt he w810i has a much better camera and its music isnt that much worse than say the w850 or even w880
however i still love the designs of most SE phones
