Hi all just interested to see what peoples opinions are on this! I've had my W900 for ages now and although it's still a great phone I was hoping by now that an improved equivalent would have come out. SE certainly haven't brought it out by now although the W960 at the end of the year looks to fit the bill. I'm almost 2 years overdue an upgrade though and feel I should be taking advantage. If I upgrade now I'll be free to upgrade again next May by which time the W960 and hopefully several other options will be tried, tested and available.
Now my criteria doesn't seem too high for me yet I still can't seem to find the phone. Basically I'm looking for something that will be a genuine upgrade from my W900 so therefore at least as good a quality camera (min 2mp, autofocus, flash), good video recording quality (30fps on the W900), improved business features and in a form factor that's certainly no bigger than what I have now as the W900 is no svelte body!
I had a P910i before the W900 but am not one of these die hard SE users by any means. If another manufacturer offers me the right phone then it's them I'll be using. From all the research I've done on here etc I'm not seeing too many options. Nokia seem to come the closest though. The N95 offers the camera and video etc but I hear so many negative things re battery life and quality. I really like the sound of the E61i but am put off by the size and camera/video etc.

To be honest i wouldn't place too much concern on all that has been reported re the N95 build qaulity, whilst i am not suggesting they are all perfect and that people with problems are not telling the truth. You need to consider just how many units of this device have been sold and then see how relatively small the number of complaints really are. Especially now as the unit you will get will very likely be from later and allegedly improved batches. Although most of the problems seem to be with 02 and Orange from what i have read.
I have a T-Mobile branded version which means a Web N Walk icon instead of the Internet Globe and a small T-Mobile logo on the battery cover which actually blends in quite nicely on the plum version. The only other customisation is the T-Zones bookmarks which can all easily be deleted if not needed.
I really have to say i have had no real problems with battery life either and although i don't use the GPS i do listen to at least 3hrs a day of Music and use WiFi and with a daily charge have never seen a low battery warning as yet. I also have had no low memory warnings either although i am quite sure if you really push it you could kill the battery and get low Ram warnings but with a little careful maintenance these problems can be avoided or minimised at worst.
The screen for watching Video's or Films along with the class leading processor and graphics chip produce outstanding results as is Music playback using the 3.5m jack and a decent set of headphones. Also the range of both free apps and even paid for means you should be able to do most things you would want with this device. The only thing i wouldn't want to do is large amounts of Data input but then IMO this is a Multimedia smart phone not a business smart phone although it is more than capable of performing these tasks if needed.

Thanks for the reply Dogmann. Mine would be a Vodafone version. I have a friend that works in one of the stores so could always go down there and make sure I picked up one with the best build quality re the slider etc.
I'm hoping for my general use battery life would be workable. I don't really listen to music too much via the phone and wouldn't have a need for gps. Can't see myself being a big wifi or web user either. My main daily use will be lots of call and texts for work, a few pictures taken and viewed and the bluetooth would be permanently on. I'm more than happy to give the phone a fresh charge every morning before I head out too as that's what I currently do with my W900 anyway.
