I have a dual boot configuration on my PC, Windows Vista (32-bit) and Windows XP x64 (64-bit)

Does this therefore mean I can't use the Sony Ericsson Update Service?

Because I realised my phone is version R1BC002, which I gather is quite old? I'd like to change it if possible.

Thanks for any replies

SEUS works fine in compatibility mode on Vista 32bit and very soon there should be a fully compatible version

if XP SP2 compatibility mode doesn't work try windows 2000 compatibility. I find I sometimes need to switch between each of these as each SEUS update comes out

Cheers, I'll see how it goes (it's taking ages to download for some reason!)

Just wondering, does the update program make a backup of my previous firmware in case anything goes wrong?

Erk!

Is it worth the risk?

the standard reply is that if there is something you need fixing, and you know its fixed in a newer firmware version, then go for it as the risk with SEUS is minimal and most problems that occur during the update can be sorted by simply running again.

remember that the actual update of the phone does not start until everything needed is already downloaded from the internet and stored on your pc

Ok thanks for the heads up.

I think I will give it a go because the phone does seem to perform badly in some areas (random restarts, rare but still) and sometimes the themes mess up.

I'll see what happens lol
