have a look at this video. the HTC Touch is a win mobile 6 device. I bought this after having sold the P990i.

http://www.mobileburn.com/review.jsp?Id=3442&Page=8#p8s1

HTC developed their own user interface which enables scrolling and fast menu navigation with fingers. and i can assure you it is really very easy and fast. windows mobile 6 is for me personally a class over UIQ. I don't want to start a discussion about that again, but just to show you that other companies don't sleep and that UIQ or SE is NOT the better/alternative choice for smartphones.

whats so special about it?
on an SE phone you move down or press a button and the same thing happens, just not animated.
windows mobile 6.0 is an improvement. but i don't see how htc can beat an SE UIQ device. the looks of the UI don't mean much when the basic functions aren't good. and besides its nothing new.
Neonode has already got such an interface.

you are blinded my friend. and the P990 is abit risponsible, because its not as users friendly as the M600/W950

it's a fantastic interface which makes use of a touchscreen and the features a pleasure. windows mobile 6 is not just another theme to win mob 5 but really improves and the performance is amazing considering the same hardware used as for wm5. while with a W950 or P990i you have to grab the stylus and the P990i does not have a today screen (that can be mentioned) and the fast switching to other applications, the HTC is just..fun using it. try it out, just to see what's going on outside SE...don't be blind

i am not blinded, SE actually made me open my eyes for other things that are good and nice.

@bart

Sorry but i actually think it is you that is blinded by your devotion to SE and UIQ, it was a great interface and offered good performance but that I'm afraid was the past the present is a very different and disappointing experience and that unfortunately is not just MO either.

SE and UIQ are not up to date they are seriously lagging in not just processors but even basic Data functionality and that really is sad add to that the contempt with which SE seem happy to treat their users and it is not a good scenario.

but i think the UIQ GUI is also very good imho. from the animations whereas they were the first to incorporate in a symbian phone. but it just requires some more serious efforts of development from the UIQ community to unleash it's full potential. but due to the fact that the UIQ developers are very few, this is almostly thwarted that could be the reason why SE tries to expand UIQ phones this year into 3.. P1, W960 and probably M610. and tries also to sell the licences to the other manufacturer brands like motorola and so on.

anyway as a response to your video link, how about HTC can they do this? ( first of all i'm not starting an argument here )

well, it's a typical UIQ interface. let me remind you that TRANSITIONS used by UIQ needed a firmware update so that they can be switched off! this shows how unflexible and resource eating this OS is. the developer are not capable to develop next to a really functional OS also some nice animations which don't kill the phone when clicking on a button...

i still think, that UIQ could have potential, but in todays world of technology, everthing that takes too long has no future! and honestly "moods" that i can change in a walkman interface from green to yellow, is not exactly a vital thing and does not make me buy those phones anymore!

HTC alone developed in less than one year this interface over WM6, imagine what they could do in another year and in collaboration maybe with microsoft. then i am sure UIQ can close their doors...

Well, the current situation with SE & UIQ pissed me off so bad that I will get this HTC touch as soon as it will be available in my country unbranded.
I just dont see UIQ taking off and the lack of software is another point for me to leave. I will keep an eye on SEs products but I sure will skip the current gen phones. They need to learn how to care for their customers! I mean its pretty cool that they'll continue the support for the UIQ3 phones except m600???WTF? I think its not fair and they wont see my money spent on P1 or any other phones of theirs...

BIG-stan, wie recht du hast...i agree 100%. you just said what i think.

concerning the HTC Touch, it has a TI OMAP 201MHz CPU and it made me "wait" a little as i thought it would be slow. but WM6 manages hardware much better and is faster in general. don't expect a rocket, but after having overclocked to 267 MHz you actually get the speed or even better then intel Xscale 400....and that's really not bad...try to overclock a P990 or M or W...haha..with UIQ you have 5% of what you get with windows mobile..
