I have had my w950 for approximately 7-8 months now and I am having some serious issues with the touch screen.

I have tried re-calibrating it with the set up wizard but when I press the areas needed it says "Too far away from point 1" etc.

What it is doing exactly is if you divide the screen up into three areas basically it is thinking that I am clicking the very lowest point of the screen.

I'll try to illustrate.

-------|--------------|-------
-------|--------------|--**--
-------|--------------|-------
-------|--------------|-------
--web-|-contacts-text|-main--
calls---|----menu-----|-more-

So if I click where the stars are in the above illustration it will think I am selecting the more button, or if i click text messaging it goes to menu, contacts-menu...web-calls etc etc. The only way i can use the quick links is to use the jog dial to scroll to them. I also cannot close any open programs using the task manager. This is beginning to be a major pain in the rear.

Does anyone have any ideas on what to do? The only thing that I can think of doing is removing the face plate and cleaning the areas of the screen covered by the front fascia, but I am not quite sure on how to do that.

Any help would be appreciated.

If your phone is 7-8 months, it should be still under warranty. Do get it to the service centre to get it fixed. Any attempt on your part to open up the phone and clean it will void the warranty... do proceed with caution... take care.

This is the symptom of damaged screen. Replacement of the screen is the only solution.

I have a PDA which had the same problem and the screen was replaced under warranty. This PDA has started to show the same symptom recently and I am not considering to repair it as cost will not justify to revive such a old device.

i had similar prob with my p990 i inherited from somone who had thrown it around or something the keypad had come apart and it was scuffed the symptoms on the touch screen was as if the bottom right of the screen was constantly pressed. i took it apart and reassembled it and everything worked fine. i made the assumption that the screen had moved in the housing and placing pressure on the touch screen.
