I doubt there was a report of someone pressing some buttons or playing a game while their phone was on the charger then it suddenly exploded.........

i use my old K300 second phone for calling purposes due to it's superb battery life. one thing my M600 didn't excel so much and i often call my colleagues even when the charger is plugged into my phone and nothing happens only that the battery heat ups faster.

hey masseur check this out:

A 22-year-old welder in northwestern China has died when his Motorola phone battery exploded as he was working in hot temperatures.

The battery exploded while the phone was in the man's pocket as he was welding at a factory in Shuangcheng in Jinta county in Gansu province, the Lanzhou Chenbao reported, adding that the death was believed to be the first in China caused by a cell phone battery, DPA reported.

The June 19 blast broke a rib and drove it into the man's heart and he collapsed in a pool of blood, the report said. He was taken to hospital but died there.

The manufacturer of the phone was notified and dispatched experts to Jinta to conduct an investigation. source:presstv

I don't think charging the phone and using it at the same time will cause explosion. However, high voltage (over 235V) or not original chargers MAY cause explosion,in other words, excessive heat produced then is dangerous. In these cases,Li Pol batteries are much safer than the Li Ion ones.

Btw,I can't imagine with what force the battery explodes. It has to do with the activity of the Lithium, right? Please, could somebody explain or say a thing that explodes with similar strength.

@mailboxmanoj, yeah we have that story here but I didn't really relate it to what you were asking. I would imagine welding would create much hotter temperatures that charging ever would. I mean I've had warm phones from charging, but nothing that I couldn't hold in my hand.

I'm sure if you use genuine batteries and talk and charge at the same time you don't have much to fear

litium ion batterys have a tendency to explode if not charged correctly but there are so many little circits protecting the baterys they are highly unlikely to explode unless subgected to extreme tempertures or punctured

take a wee look at this
