This problem is driving me nuts. I'm trying to use SEUS to update my phone but I just can't get anywhere at all.

Every single time I try by holding down the C button and plugging the cable in, the phone just switches on. Every time. Despite the fact that I have already installed the flash driver (and have tried to do so in my different USB ports) I've seen people having this problem all over the net without a solid answer.

I've tried this on another Windows XP PC and even on an old PII laptop with a single USB 1.1 port! The same result, the phone just switches on, and I can't work out why

Am I supposed to take out the battery and the sim card? Or just the battery as per SEUS's instructions?

Any ideas much appreciated

Alex

try holding 2+5 instead of 'C'

you need to take out the sim card and memory card (if you have one) and reinsert the battery

Thanks for the reply. I just tried it without the sim card with no success, but on putting the sim card back in and booting the phone, I get:

"Insert Sim"

Which is worrying me just slightly because it is full inserted!!

Hmm it's working again now, thankfully, not sure what I did. But even so, I still can't connect this damn thing in flash mode without it switching on!

Dirty contacts would be my thought, clean the contacts on the bottom of the phone!

Did you installed USB Flash drivers for your phone correctly?

Yep, when it found the USB flash device the first time, I pointed it to the Sony Flash drivers (ggsemc.inf, .sys)

It installed that fine, but the phone still switches on.

I've tried other USB ports and other PC's as mentioned.

what do you mean by holding 2+5?
and you don't need to take out the sim and memory card. i think it's not even necessary to take out the battery

i guess it just a cable problem. or a fastport problem either or.
so, yes, you may try other cables and other PCs in this manner.
if the prob is still there, then try other flash drivers, one with wotan or davinci.
make sure to uninstall the previous drivers you have used.

@rockygali

Hmm wtf, you make a good point. When I try the Davinci or Wotan clients when holding C, they pick up the phone fine. And all the info about my phone scrolls by.

How come it goes into flash mode with these but not SEUS?
