I don't quite understand the P990i when it comes to charging the battery. According to the manual, the LED is solid green when charging. Does it turn off when finished? Mine never seems to turn off! I put it in the cradle at night, and in the morning, it's still on.

My P990i's battery meter also rarely ever reads 100%. It's usually 99% or 98% at the most.

How do you know when the P990i is fully charged? The battery animation stops, but the meter doesn't read 100%. (My phone is still on while charging in the cradle)

If you leave it overnight it would usually end up showing 98%. I think that's probably the battery's defence mechanism to prevent it from overcharging. However, if you look at your battery status right after it is fully charged, of course it'll show 100%, & if you leave it to charge a little longer, you'll see it drop to 99%. If you pull the charger off at this point, you'll see the indicator bounce back to 100%. It's perfectly normal.

If your LED stays lit after charging, go to the service menu, run a test on the LED, go out of the service menu and the LED would go back to normal, don't reboot your phone because of this. This is one bug SE still has yet to fix

Yes, thanks for the info mode. When I ran the LED test this morning, the light stayed off after. I'll check again tonight/tomorrow when I charge the device again.

Incidentally though, how long does your device normally stay at 100%? It went up to 100% when I unplugged it this morning, but by the time I got into work, it had dropped back down to 99%. Maybe that's just how this phone is? I used to use PalmOS devices a lot, and on these would typically stay at 100% for a while, before beginning to drop.

You're right, it doesn't stay at 100% for long. I happen 2 appreciate its 'honesty' actually. There are phones out there that give a false pretense of the battery strength in the beginning only to decline rapidly halfway through. But that's just me.
And of course PDA's conserve energy better than PDA phones too, mainly because they do not send/receive network signal all the time, so what you're experiencing is quite normal, especially if you're on a 3G network like I am.

Ah that's good. Glad to hear that the behaviour is common.

Yah, I think I prefer it this way better as well. Makes the meter more meaningful. Thanks again for the info!

I'm not on a 3G network here (wrong frequency band ), but I understand what you're saying about the phone functions.
