I've never had a phone do this yet but this happened to my 1 1/2 week old K810.
Last night before going to bed. I put my phone on the floor next to my bed as usual. Its had 86% battery remaining at 2am.
Just after 5:30am I heard a loud alarm. I checked my phone and it was hot to touch and there was no power left in the battery.
I promptly turned the phone off and went to remove the battery cover which was very warm.
After removing the battery cover I went to remove the battery which was also very hot.
I let everything cool down and put the battery back into the K810 again and put the phone on charge (without powering it up) and everything was fine.
I started up the phone shortly after waking up and the phone was slow to load and get a signal although everything is working fine
Just wondering what could have caused this to happen to my phone

maybe it's near a lamp shade? Or its really getting hot. Sometimes the speaker of SE phones overheat just like what happened to my phone. It heated up but the battery is only warm

Its never been anywhere near liquids mate and its kept in a hard plastic case as well.
I've got 3 other BST-37 batteries that fit the K810. Think I'll charge one of those up and see how the phone goes with that.
No lamp shade either. Theres nothing around my bed at all which is why I put the phone on the floor.

I'd agree with @Sammy. It might be a faulty battery. I'd get it replaced if I were you, just in case.

This happened to a mate of mine. He had got a k800 off vodafone, used it for a week, and the same thing happened to him, where the battry got very hot, and would not hold any charge. Sent it back to voda, who just replaced it for him.

Oops I ment BST-33 batteries. Have another 2 spare from other phones.
So far the phone has held its charge today and has not got hot at all

weird, try putting it in exactly the same place tonight? maybe theres a mains cable/copper piping right underneath and it was amplifying the radiowaves etc? ooo-errr!
