Hi,I have just swapped over from T-Mobile to 3. At the time of purchase I was sold a K800i and the X-series add-on that gives me unlimited internet. I now want to add 'Mobile Mail' for an extra £2.50 to give me push email. I cannot get a straight answer from three whether the 'Mobile Mail' is available for my handset or that X-series is compatible with 'Mobile Mail' Has anyone got push email through 3 with the K800i please? Or do you know how that x-series thing works? On the website it ststes that Nokias are compatible but not Sony ericssons, but their help desk says that sony ericssons are able to have this add-on? I am so confused?!?!?!?

Hmmm, ok, "Mobile Mail" in this case would be a Java Application that runs on your phone. I have tried it on a W850 so it should work on the K800 as the phone is the basically the same platform.

Don't think the app is true push email, it is more like pull email and I don't think it offers any benefit over the standard email client built into the phone already. The mobile mail app allows you to collect mail from hotmail, gmail, etc. However, you need the application running all the time and you probably need it active, don't think it runs in the background, but could be wrong.

The x-series add on basically gives you internet access so you could use the data available from that option to access your mail using the built in client.

As part of your contract you should get a 3mail.com email account which you can set up on your phone using the email client which connects as imap. This you will find is true push email, I have this set on my w850. I basically forward my google mail to the three one, then the three one pushes the mail to my phone so I get the alert. If it is something of interest I can read on the phone or use the google maill client app to read and reply.

the 3mail, as far I have used it for the past 3 years, is free to receive mail, but will cost so many pence to send. but if you got a data account, flat rate, it is probably better to send using the email client.

as for the 2.50 charge, I am not sure about that, I asked for the x-series unlimited data add on for £5, but got x-series silver instead, I wasn't bothered with the mistake as it gave me the same thing plus bit more for the same £5. one of those things was the mobile mail. I got a text message to my phone with a download link to install and setup the java app. Thought I didn't quite like it and am happy for my needs with my forwarding to the 3mail to get push email.
