I use my P990 with TomTom 6 and a Navicore GPS unit. Works very well. Every now and again I get 'GPS unit not found' for a few seconds - not sure if this is a poor GPS signal or some glitch with the bluetooth link to the phone. But it's really helped me get to some tricky destinations on time without any wrong turns.

You only need to connect to TomTom via the 'net if you want to use additional features like TomTom traffic, TomTom weather etc, or download a new map - I haven't tried these features yet so I don't know how well they work.

My only issue with TomTom on the P990 related to trying to navigate to a contact in the phone - which would of course be very useful. However, locating the contact within TomTom is V E R Y S L O W.... Takes minutes (literally) to respond to each keypress (at least if you've got 100s of contacts). Best to just enter the postcode manually.

For me though, TomTom on the P990 is excellent.
