This is really strange...

It keeps searching for the drivers of CDC comm interface, and then fails to install the device, and hence, PC suite is rendered useless.

Any recommendations?

Do you have UAC enabled and what version of Vista do you have?
And what interface do you use to connect your phone with?

Phone model?

did you donwload the latest version? If you try to install it from the CD it might have the old version...

im actually experiencing the same problem, ive tried workarounds found here and on other forums (turning the UAC on, then changing the compatibility OS, placed a check on a couple of checkboxes) but vista still cant detect my phone, it says that there are no drivers found and if i try to search for drivers via automatic update, it will say that i have the latest driver.

im running Vista Home Premium.

The Sony Ericsson Update Service for Windows Vista™ will be available for download on www.sonyericsson.com/updateservice in September.

Its NOT update service that am asking for, its the PC SUITE.

I downloaded the latest version from SE website and it clearly says its supporting vista.

I tried to hook the phone to the USB cable, it tries to install the drivers, then it says it fails, since it could not locate the drivers, even on Windows Update.

Btw am using a Sony Ericsson P990 and having Windows Vista Business Edition, with UAC turned OFF.

When I installed the Vista version on my XP machine I get the same behavior. Usually I just have to delete the USB composite device off the system, unplug the cable and reinstall the drivers but it's not working for me. Has anyone come up with a step by step to reset the drivers?

Just checked on SE website maybe I overlooked some more additional files to be downloaded, and no luck

I had the same problem. what i did was, just ignore the driver message, it showed up twice on my PC. I clicked "Ask me next time...." and then i had the phone attached to the PC as a mass storage device.
