DiepFries posted the files required to change to CDA 162007/5 in this thread:
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=130758&start=150
I've wanted to get some basic Chinese support on my World Generic 2 P990i, however, my Chinese isn't very proficient, so I didn't want to have the entire phone's interface in Chinese. Originally, I had thought about using the Singapore firmware, but, that one is still behind at R5A17.
The Hong Kong firmware with simplified Chinese that DiepFries posted the CDA for is apparently up-to-date according to uiq3.sf.net.
I was just concerned about the differences though. Does anyone know if there are any differences worth knowing about? For one, does the Hong Kong Simplified firmware have an English interface option (like the Singapore one does?) At first I thought that I could maybe just install the English UK/American language pack from SonyEricsson.com, but I can't find one for R6D23 - they're all for R5A17 latest.
Oh and does the Hong Kong version of the phone itself have a different keyboard? (eg for ZhuYin input?) Will the Hong Kong firmware be ok on a device with a QWERTY keyboard? Is there a HanYuPinYin input method?
Also, are the fonts on the Chinese-language firmwares anti-aliased like they are on the English-language firmwares? In my searches across the internet, I came across a few Chinese threads in which it seemed like they were manipulating the phone files to get anti-aliased fonts (I'm not sure because I did not take the time to try to read and understand those threads).
Are there any other alternatives that I may have? I've tried the method of installing new TTF fonts to enable Chinese display support. However, I couldn't stand the lack of bold/regular differentiation.
I managed to find the Sans-Serif_ChinZi.v225.ccc file that is used as the font for the Chinese firmwares, apparently. But when I tried to use it in the same way as the TTF method, installing it to /resource/fonts, it didn't do anything.

Hi!
As far as I understand your questions, the answers are all yes.
When you start the phone for the first time after the update, you can choose between UK English or Chinese simplified.
I live in China, and I myself mainly use the English language, but many SMS-es that I receive are in Chinese. I wanted at least the possibility to be able to show the SMS-es to my Chinese colleagues, so that they could translate.
Also, I wanted the latest firmware, compared to the Singapore FW, which is one step behind.
BR, DiepFries

Thanks for the info, DiepFries! (And for the files too)
Did you change you CDA from something else to this one? Which CDA and firmware version did you have originally? And just out of curiosity, was your phone already unlocked/unbranded when you got it?
I heard that the Singapore firmware has a Chinese dictionary in it? Does the Hong Kong one have this too?
Sorry for all the questions and thanks again!

rcxAsh, you're welcome!
When I got my P990, it had the HK fw on it, but originally, I think, it is a Generic World 1 (I guess gray imported to HK

). But I'm not sure.
I changed it to world generic (/1), then to Singapore (/8) when I realized I still needed the Chinese characters to be displayed, and I wanted the dictionary too.
Finally, I changed to HK CHS (/5).

Alright! I did it! I used the SEUS trick to install the Hong Kong CHS firmware!
The fonts are not anti-aliased, however, I recall seeing threads online where people managed to address this. I'll look into this and see what I find. My only other annoyance is that the handwriting is extremely slow now. I don't use it very much, but it's still a bit of a shame.
Thanks everyone! And thanks again DiepFries for the CDA files.

I recently traded my M600 with a P990 with generic Singapore firmware. I updated and now I have version 5. Does anyone know if we will have a generic Singapore 6 anytime soon?
Besides that, has anyone had experience to change this CDA with a standard World generic CDA?
I am a little bit concerned as if something wrong happens the SE centers in Italy will notice that it has a non EU number and will refuse to repair.
