It is now 2007 and I have yet to see any phone that allows me to block withheld numbers or blacklist numbers. I'm sure many of you have gotten those annoying withheld calls at odd hours of the day, or getting repeated calls from some "Country Care Center" (or something like that) asking for a Carol when your name is Mark, and you've told them repeatedly not to call you back but they still do anyway.

I'm sure such a phone exists, but of course I do not have unlimited time to lurk around the internet trying to find a phone that does this. And I also do not want to have to buy another phone just for this feature. So, does anyone know how I could do this on the K800i?

The "accept only from list" feature on the K800i is terrible because it gives you a tiny list of about 10 numbers so I don't want to use that.

Yes, I'm aware of the "silent ringtone" you can assign to annoying numbers, but that doesn't take care of withheld/private numbers (unless you can think of a way to make it do that).

I swear someone could make millions off a phone built around this feature alone.

When i had a p910 you could allow calls from contacts only... I used that alot. It wsas a great feature. I'm pretty sure the p990 has the same option!

Yeah, but that doesn't allow you to receive calls from non-contact non-withheld numbers. But I suppose you could just call them back since there was caller ID information that will show up in "Missed Calls". Too bad the K800i doesn't have the "accept from contacts only" option. Which is retarded.

And HOW about we go it the right way.... which is the NETWORKS!!!!

Like with our landline phones, we have the option of Call Block! These kind of calls we are talking about here have to be handled on a NETWORK base and not phone base!!! We don't have home phones either that single out such calls so why would be get mobile phones like that??

We all should come up with some demand to the Networks and demand they implement at least the Unknown caller block!

Not on any phone?

I am using a program (IVCM) on my N95 (think it is available for all S60 phones as well) which allows me to do this and more. You can setup black/white list and set action like reject/in-phone answering machine/reply with sms/play sound/call back/transfer/interactive voice prompt. You can also set schedules when these are activated.

I've recorded 20 seconds of silence and saved it as a ringtone under the name 'Sound of Silence'. You can attach it to a number you don't want to answer (effectively blacklisting it) or use it as the default ringtone and add a personalised ringtone to all your contacts. This works best if you switch off vibrate mode. The calls still show up in the missed call menu so you can keep track of them...

hmm I am going to ring up o2 and see what they can do about this I have rang up some land lines and it says

"sorry calls to this number cannot be made from a witheld number"

so I will try and get this done
