Hi all,

I have a Sony CPF MP001 speaker cradle and a K800i. Sounds great with MP3 or FM radio played through the speakers. The unit has an dangling wire type antenna so the K800 gets a good FM signal.

I would like to wake up to the radio. So I set up a recurring alarm in the organiser and select the radio as the alarm sound.

Problem is, when the alarm time arives, the K800 uses its internal speaker to play the radio, rather than the external speakers. I can't seem to find a setting to stop this.

Can anyone think of a way to fix this?

Unfortunately, I think it's because the phone cannot differentiate between a set of speakers or a set of headphones that is attached to the phone.

So as a default they programmed the phone to play the radio through it's own speaker as it's "assumed" that the accessory that is attached is a headset which an alarm cannot be heard if played.

Maybe if you used the MMC-60 music cable it might work, but I haven't tried it myself.

I noticed the same with a pair of MPS-60 connected to my K800i. Works fine to play mp3's and radio, but when the alarm goes off, regardless of if it is a mp3 melody or the rario, the sound emerges from the phon and not from the speakers. I believe that the alarm is a separate speaker, kind of, since if you preview a ring signal while choosing an alarm signal, it does not play that loud as it does when the alarm goes off.

OK, thanks both,

So its not just that I missed some setting in the manual.

So... how do we get it to work with the external speakers?

Would a firmware update do the trick? Or an alternative radio application with its own alarm function. There must be a way!

No.

I did write a letter to Sony Ericsson with my suggestion and received a standard thankyou letter. But that must have been a couple of years ago now...
