Hi,
I recently bought a p990i.
I used to earlier use a O2 mini. It had a very nice search ability for contacts. I could search by first name or last name. That doesn't seem to be the case with the p990i. For example my name is filed as Koka, Srikanth. Now when I try to search for Srikanth my name wouldn't appear unless I search for Koka.
Another cool feature that I really miss is the ability to dial by name. For example if your name is John Doe and your mobile number is 614-210-8890 all I have to do is to actually use the numpad to type John (5646) and all the contacts whose name is John would appear. That way I do not have to remember the actual moble number and I need not have to search for the name in the contacts.
Is this possible in p990i?

You can choose the way you want to sort your contacts. Last name, first name or first name, last name and there's a couple other options. This can be accessed through settings in the contacts application.
The "dialing by name" feature you're talking about also exists on the P990. For example to dial John Doe.. just press and hold 5 (for J) until your contacts are displayed, then start typing the name until it's highlighted in the contact list. then you can choose to do whatever you want.

That is not quite the same as 'Dialing by Name.' What if I want to dial a name starting with K? pressing and holding 5 will give J and not K. I would have to press 555 to get to K.
The availability of software of P990 seems to be very limited.

Thanks. I will look into Dream Connect. I have subscribed to auto notification of replies but I didn't get any notifications hence the delay in reply.
