Can someone please give me a sanity check here?

For various obnoxious reasons it would pain me to go into (so I won't), Cingular/AT&T are basically forcing me to "upgrade" my plan.

And they say I need new sim cards and new phones to boot. (Basically, they are trying to get me off their old legacy system onto the new Cingular/AT&T system.)

They don't officially "support" the P910.

My question is this: Is there any reason to suspect the new sim card they send me won't work in m P910? I think I should be able to use the new sim card as always in my P910 but I need to be sure as this is my work phone/tool and I can't afford to lose it.

Many Thanks,
Paul T

Stick to your guns, mate! I'm guessing they want to sell you a new rate plan? Shake your fist at them and ask for a similar rate plan as it was no fault of yours for the cahnge...
I went through a similar situation when Cingular took over from At&t.

I don't see why the new sim won't work... I'm not sure if SEUS has updated their website with the MMS, WAP configurations for the new At&t...

You should be good in my opinion but do keep us posted and best of luck!!!

sLevin,

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I have been shaking my fist at them for a while.

The trouble is I want to add a new line. And they won't let me unless I "update" my plan. ARG.

So if anyone can confirm that my "new" Cingular/AT&T sim card will work in my phone I'd appreciate it?

I can't think why it wouldn't. A sim card is a sim card right?

the SIM will work. But you need to switch to AT&T in order to change your plan, or add new lines. No matter what. There is no way around it. Unfortunatley.
Should you lke to keep your plan, there should be no issues. Just stop by an AT&T store, aqnd tell them that you SIM is not workoing anymore, such as in not picking up signal, such as in died. ALL good reasons. They should give you a new one (with AT&T logo, 3G). And it should work.

Kalu,

Thanks for reply.

The bad thing is this was an old AT&T plan before Cingular bought AT&T Wireless. So I figured when AT&T bought back Cingular, I might get some better treatment. But nope. Still treated no better (and in most ways worse) than someone off the street.

I guess I may as well bite the bullet and take the "upgrade" as I'll need to do it eventually.

So your confirmation that the new sim card will work in my P910 is very helpful.

Thanks,
Paul T
