Hello dudes,

I heard a wee rumour today that T-mobile uk are seat to buy Three?

The reason for this rumoured take over is for them to have the largest uk customer base.

Anyone else heard this?

@Superluminova

Whilst anything is possible i would be very surprised as the owner of 3 Hutchinson Whampoa are not exactly short of cash and started 3 to re enter the market and 3 are now doing quite well, Also T-Mobile have grown their user base very nicely since the launch of Web N Walk and their Flext tariffs so i really can't see the benefit to them having to pay a premium to increase their customer base but you never know.

personally i feel it can damage T mobile, if they bought over 3. People who might not be with T mobile, might start comparing the company with 3 as in cust service etc, and might just look elsewhere. T mobile have a good reputation at the moment, and i hope they stay the way they are.

if T-Mobile bought 3 then they would make major changes so I hope they don't "3" are doing very well as you say with there low priced tariffs!

other networks now need to get with and follow them

@Miss UK

Actually i was talking about T-Mobiles tariffs not 3's although i will say 3's tariffs are good the main problems start if you have any problems with your device as all their customer services seem to not be based in the UK and also apparently there coverage is also not so great either.

I also don't know how advanced there HSPDA roll out is either as i have never seen it mentioned anywhere. The cheapest prices doesn't always mean the best deals there are other factors that need to be considered as well. Such as they don't seem to get all the popular handsets and they also seem to brand them quite heavily and are very reluctant to unlock their handsets and seem to charge a lot more for this service if they do. IMO the cheapest deal is not aways the best but i suppose a lot depends on just what you want and expect from your Network.

I find it funny that T-Mobile would even consider buying 3UK.

Wouldn't it then have 2 hi-speed networks to manage?

2 Large, or 1 huge network with unrivaled coverage in the UK-which would support there beyond voice objectives!

@Dogmann

3 use Orange transmitters for their signals anyway, so that would mean Orange have poor coverage too? 3 used to use O2 transmitters until orange won the bid, which came into effect at the start of the year (2007).
