hi,
I have a question about my SE K790, which i got in Russia
so, it has EDGE, GSM 900, GSM 1800, GSM 1900
in the USA we have GSM 850, so, i was wondering, if there is a way to upgrade firmware/enable GSM 850?

It's a lack of hardware, not a firmware issue. The K790i doesn't have the necessary component to access 850 MHz. The K790a does. Incidentally, I used the K790i with T-Mobile and never had a reception/signal issue. T-Mobile doesn't use 850 MHz except if you roam onto Cingula/AT&T.

I'm afraid your only options are to stick to the mediocre 1900 band coverage Cingular offers or switch to T-Mobile, where you'll get full functionality since they only use the 1900 band (except for roaming).

the sad thing is i'm a Cingular customer!
and 1900 signal really sucks outside big cities - like Austin or Houston ;-(
