how come all 2 MP Sony Ericsson phones can only video in 176*144 pixels while ex:Nokia 6288 ( 2 MP ) can video in 640*480.
and SE phones can doo 1632*1224 pixel pictures and the 6288 can do only 1600*1200... ???
I have a w810i and I`m unsatisfied whit the video size and qality...

This is not a problem. This is how it works. Only 320x240 phones can play videos bigger that 176x144 but not bigger than 320x240

Yes. You only get a black screen and the audio of course.

all current SE non-smartphones can only do video record at ancient and crappy QCIF video. If you want good video recording/playback buy a Nokia or Samsung.

The only known SE phones that can record in QVGA (biggest recording size for at the moment) are the W900, P990, P1, K850 and other walkman I think that are about to be released soon, like the W960 and W910.

The 176x144 recording resolution has been a problem since K750 (the first widely commercial phone with 2MP cam) and it still persist even on K810, wich put some people off. VGA resolution has still not been reached by any at the moment.

Not completely true that QVGA is the highest resolution. You can also use CIF.

According to GSMArena, W960's camera is: 3 MP, 2048x1536 pixels, autofocus, video(VGA), flash; secondary VGA videocall camera.

I think the VGA is ~15fps... but still good resolution.
