> What can we expect of the P3i?
Bookmark topic
I am looking for a replacement for my well respected P900 and the P1i most certainly looks like a great choice.
However a lot of people have mentioned that the P1i is not a "true" upgrade of the P990i.
I don't know if it's only those people who just have bought the P990i -that was late on the market - and therefore wont accept that the P1i really is the replacement for the p990i???
If you wait there will come the true replacement of the P990i - ofcourse there will since SE wont stop making phones with the P1i...
My question is what I am to expect of the "true" replacement of the P990i - what many know as the P3i? (Thought it would be called P2i???

) Since many people say that you shouldn't buy the P1i...
Many says the flip will be back but what about the size in general?
Can we expect the same small size of the P1i?
What functions will there be in the P3i?

A docking station which connects to standard keyboards, printers, etc.
Standard connection options such as mini USB and perhaps TV out for viewing pics, etc.
Multiple card reader slots (unless a single memory card standard is in place by then).
IR remote software.
Etc.

to be honest, in this P1 size package, I now have almost what I wanted a year ago when I bought the M600
but, as with all similar threads like this my biggest wish is always to fit more screen into the available space
again, on the P1, there is a space rserved which just says P1i and this could easily have been placed at the top near the front camera providing room for more screen.
Similarly width wise they could have provided more screen
so that what I ask for in the next versions please

all these replies are crazy!
I would simply expect it to be like the p910 but with wifi, gps and the same nice big screen we all know and love (something i will miss on the p1)

The P1i form factor is definitely the way to go, I think if they go back to the same old bulky flip arrangement as previous P's that would be a retrograde step. I'll be buying a P1i when I can, and I don't honestly think there's any extra feature or improvement they could cram into a P3i that would make me want to go back to the older style form factor, after having been using the M600 for the last year.
I say this over and over again, but UIQ3 does
not need a flip, or a "flip closed mode" - it's far more useable single or double handed in the P1i and M600, laid out in full screen with all the buttons in the right places.
I can see the argument for a larger screened device (although I don't particularly need one myself) but if they're going to do that, do it with some kind of pop out keyboard - not a flip which covers have the screen, adds bulk, and requires some rubbish "flip closed" adaptation of the OS.
Spoken as a big fan of the old P800 and P910, which - using UIQ
2 - really did need the flip...

Ok, i would like SE to make a phone....
...that would have:
1. Faster processor
2. P1`s ram or more
3. Wifi "g",..
4. Larger screen 3.0", 480x640?
5. Hsdpa/Hsupa
6. Even friendlier UI
7. Integrated GPS/VoIP/Tv-Out/3.5 Jack
8. Integrated 8GB
9. Battery that would last at least 2 or 3 days
10. All packed into a stylish and well build housing

What about the size then??? Will the "true" successor be larger than the p1i then?
My concerns about the P1i is that I have to reply and make calls with touching the screen instead of having a "real" button - but maybe M600 owners can calm me down
