I've installed an icon pack of .png files and while I can see that they are on my M600i in the File Manager>Picture area, when I try and replace them by highlighting the button and selecting Edit>Shortcut Icon>Browse I can't find the .png files anywhere.

What to do? I imported them via bluetooth.

TIA for any help

Paul

Have you tried converting the png files to something else such as jpg? Your phone may not recognise .png as a valid icon format. Thus they wouldn't show up on the list of choices for an icon replacement. Had the same problem once when trying to change WinXP's default folder icons.

I have not tried that yet. I pulled the icons from a SE symbian site and assumed they'd work out of the box so to speak.

Well so far nothings working....png, jpeg, or gif. I can install them, I see them, but when trying to replace them they're not there.

It seems you're right..just tried it on my p990, are you sure you're looking for them in the right place? As you imported them via BT, are the stuck in messaging, and need to be saved to your phone?

UIQ3 handsets DO recognise .png files as icons (that's how I got the iPhone style icons on my W950i and P1i, as well as some new P1i owners).

If I recall, there was a firmware that DIDN'T allow a user to change icons though.

Well when highlighting the button on the main screen I select...

Edit>Short Cut>Browse...

and it opens the file manager. I've looked in every folder (pictures, other, etc) on both installed memory and my memory card. It shows nothing. When I go into the
file manager itself I can see all the files.

My version software is dated April 2007

Sorry, didn't mean to seem patronising, but you got to ask....

All I can suggest is to change the file format in an image editor, I presume you can see other pictures on your phone when the file manager opens to select the new icon?

Actually I can't see ANY files when trying to change the icon. Only when you go into the file manager itself are they there. I've changed the format now from JPEG, GIF, BMP, and PNG and none show when trying to replace them.

That may mean as suggested that this version of firmware will not allow me to change them?
