In the hacked version of Opera Mini, the “shadow connect” option was available for a time now… it’s a very handy feature which reduces the cost of browsing by a large amount.

All official Opera Mini versions end the GPRS session when it completes loading a single page. When you click another link it starts another GPRS session to load the page, and then disconnects again. When you consider the initializing fee for a GPRS session, this disconnecting and reconnecting waste much more money than actual data cost for browsing.

I downloaded the Opera Mini 4.00 beta, they have still not included the shadow connect feature... I don’t know why Opera does not understand this simple truth and include this feature.

I think it's the network related issue, how your operator counts the bytes or how it defines the gprs session.
For me, i didn't see any difference in my bill with or without data shadow connection.

I wouldnt mind seeing that option. Not because of cost because its just £1 unlimited internet for a day on t-mobile but out of time. Its annoying waiting everytime you click a link for the page to load up.
